Introduction of a New Model of Care for Children from 0 to 3 Years in Zhytomyr Oblast
Within our project in Zhytomyr Oblast, teams were created and trained to successfully implement a new approach in the work of patronizing nurses. One of the key initiatives is the home visit program, consisting of two components: universal (available for every family) and progressive (tailored to the individual needs of each family). Our training focused not only on medical aspects but also on psychology, physiology, and the social environment in which a child grows and develops.
Project participants, including 76 healthcare workers and 34 nurses, received pediatric kits with necessary devices and materials for quality child examinations at home. These mobile pediatric kits became an integral part of our nurses’ work and significantly eased their tasks. Positive results are also evident in the formation of a national trainer team that successfully conducted 4 training sessions and 42 supervisions in various regions of Ukraine. This contributes to the effective dissemination of the home visit model and improvement of the primary medical and sanitary care centers.

Our project has also received recognition at the national level. Through collaboration with the Zhytomyr Oblast State Administration, the project was included in the National Program of Accessibility of Ukraine. The project was presented to the First Lady and the Prime Minister of Ukraine at the meeting of the National Council on Accessibility in Vinnytsia.
This is just the beginning of our journey. With positive results and the support of the Minister of Health, we are considering the possibility of implementing the project in other regions of the country and ensuring its sustainable development. Our goal is to provide quality medical services and promote the health and development of every family in Ukraine.
Spreading Successful Experience: Formation of Trainer Teams and Development of the Home Visit Network
Within our project on the universal-progressive home visit model in Zhytomyr Oblast, we took on the mission of spreading successful experience to other regions of Ukraine. Our goal is to create national trainer teams that will support practices and educational institutions in implementing this innovative model.

One of the key initiatives is the introduction of the Professional Registration Form (PRF) system based on the model. This will allow healthcare workers joining the project to receive official confirmation of qualification improvement in accordance with Ukrainian legislation.
To expand the project’s geography, we have already formed 3 trainer teams ready to support additional regions of Ukraine in implementing the home visit model. This is a crucial step in ensuring access to quality medical services for families in different corners of the country.
An extremely important stage was the establishment of the first training-resource center in Zhytomyr, the first of its kind in Ukraine. This center will become a hub of knowledge, experience, and resources for those interested in implementing the universal-progressive home visit model. We believe that through joint efforts and knowledge exchange, we can improve the primary healthcare system and ensure a high standard of medical services for all our fellow citizens.
