In Touch Ukraine Foundation

has joined the project "Minimum Package of Integrated Social Services for Families with Children" aimed at developing social and medical services and establishing inter-agency cooperation to support families with children. This project is implemented by UNICEF Ukraine with support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through the German Development Bank (KFW), in partnership with the Ukrainian Child Rights Network, SOS Children's Villages Ukraine, Social Synergy NGO, and the Ukrainian Educational Platform Foundation.

Purpose of the Office:

Providing psychological and informational consultations, and social services to alleviate psycho-emotional stress and improve the quality of life and social adaptation. The project is primarily aimed at women in medical facilities who need comprehensive assistance.

Psychological Assistance Office:

🌟 At the “Regional Perinatal Center” of the Zhytomyr Regional Council, psychosocial services are provided:

    • To pregnant women who are under pregnancy preservation care, including women who are internally displaced persons;
    • To new mothers from the “risk group”;
    • To women who have given birth prematurely and others in need 🌟

📋 The social work specialist provides consultations on documents, status processing, and referrals. Our psychologist is ready to provide you with initial counseling and support in difficult situations.

“Restoring the office’s operations, which have been ongoing since September 2022, is a necessity, especially as we enter the third year of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces. Pregnant women already have low stress tolerance, particularly under current conditions, especially during air raid alarms. They must worry about themselves, their newborns, and often their husbands defending Ukraine. Therefore, psychosocial support is essential and relevant for expectant mothers. The work of the Psychosocial Support Office is parallel to and closely linked with the work of the medical staff. Through close cooperation between the office specialists and medical personnel, we can comprehensively address and minimize negative external factors affecting women. As a result, doctors focus on improving the health of the mother and baby, while the specialist and psychologist work on her psycho-emotional state.”

“The initiative to create the Psychosocial Support Office for pregnant women and new mothers began in 2021. The project started in September 2022 and showed quality results, leading to its continuation in 2023. This was part of a comprehensive response to emergencies in the Zhytomyr region, implemented by the ‘In Touch Ukraine Foundation.’ Subsequently, a proposal was made to continue the direct activity in the Zhytomyr region. The office was temporarily inactive for about six months due to new agreements needing to be signed. However, the initiative to continue the office’s work received support, and since March 2024, the Psychosocial Support Office has resumed operations with expanded functionality. After a young mother receives a consultation or referral, she can be accompanied to the relevant territorial communities by a social work specialist, who will provide ongoing support to at-risk groups or those needing such assistance at their place of residence.”
