📅🚐 Three times a week
Mobile medical teams visit villages in three communities of the Zhytomyr region: Narodychi, Olevsk, and Slovec.
💙 To restore access to medical services for local residents, mobile medical teams, consisting of a family doctor, nurse, psychologist, and social worker, travel to these areas. 💛 These are free primary health care services, as well as psychological and social consultations.
💬 “Every Tuesday, our mobile medical team visits the villages of the Narodychi community. We see over 20 people per visit. We perform primary examinations, provide health consultations based on complaints and requests from people, and conduct screenings, for example, for diabetes. We often find elevated blood glucose levels for the first time, meaning people were unaware of their risks before,” says family doctor Olena Mysiuk.
👉 In case of a positive screening, the patient is referred to specialists for further consultations and additional examinations. From the experience of three months of operation in the communities of the Zhytomyr region, people often need consultations and follow-ups with endocrinologists and cardiologists.
🙌 Every time the mobile medical teams visit, they receive gratitude from local residents.
Many people cannot get to a doctor on their own but need not only primary medical services but also consultations with specialists. This was emphasized by Nadiya Yevheniivna from the village of Chaban in the Slovec community.
From January to March, mobile medical teams have already made 34 visits, and in April, another 14. During this time, more than 1150 local residents of the Olevsk, Narodychi, and Slovec communities have been served. Visits to these communities will continue until the end of September, aiming to cover all villages.
ℹ️ Mobile medical teams operate within the framework of the “Innovations to Overcome the HIV Epidemic” project, supported by USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development) in cooperation with Pact. The project in the Zhytomyr region is implemented by In Touch Ukraine Foundation.
