Opening of the Training and Resource Center
At the end of August, In Touch Ukraine Foundation opened the first training and resource center in Ukraine to implement the universal-progressive model of home visits to families with children aged 0 to 3 years, supported by UNICEF Ukraine.
Simulation Training Center at Zhytomyr Medical Institute
The creation of the simulation training center at Zhytomyr Medical Institute will allow for the introduction of a separate educational program for implementing the universal-progressive model of home visits. This will enhance the competence of future professionals according to modern educational methods, improve practical skills in medical manipulations, and foster the basics of ecological interaction with the family.

Piloting the Universal-Progressive Model of Patronage
Zhytomyr region, following Donetsk, has joined the piloting of the universal-progressive model of patronage (UPMP). Fifteen healthcare institutions in the region already provide such services, ensuring qualitatively different care for newborns and children up to three years old. They also provide prenatal patronage to families expecting a child. This year, the project will scale to 11 regions in Ukraine.
Educational Program in the Training and Resource Center
The training and resource center will introduce a separate educational program on implementing UPMP. Here, medical professionals will be trained in the universal-progressive model of patronage and will visually demonstrate how to interact with families in their homes. This helps families with children to see the patronage nurse and pediatrician as trusted professionals to whom they can and should turn with all their questions. Under this model, the patronage nurse can consult parents on various issues concerning their child’s health and development in the comfort of their home.
“This training and resource center for implementing the universal-progressive model of patronage marks the beginning of a new stage in our project. We are scaling to 11 regions in Ukraine, where the medical community is starting to implement new home visit services for families with children. ‘Care from Birth at Home’ is not just the name of the program supported at the state level by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and internationally by UNICEF, but also the philosophy of this center and the project for implementing the universal-progressive model of patronage,” emphasizes Margarita Sirančuk, head of the public organization implementing the UNICEF project in Zhytomyr region.
