Creation of opportunities for children to catch up on educational losses is a significant direction

Creation of opportunities for children to catch up on educational losses is a significant direction of the cross-sectoral project by In Touch Ukraine Foundation with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine.

🔵 On April 11, an online meeting was held to discuss the implementation of the “Together to Learn” program, during which they discussed:

🔹 the possibility of involving teachers from preschool education institutions in the project; 🔹 the possibility of involving teachers from preschool education institutions working remotely; 🔹 creation of “Daycare Centers” for working parents; 🔹 provision of educational services to children who are not covered by formal education.

“Together to Learn” is a comprehensive education program by UNICEF, which involves a wide range of educational activities aimed at helping children catch up on educational opportunities lost due to war.

In Touch Ukraine Foundation, as part of the implementation of the cross-sectoral UNICEF project in the Zhytomyr region, carries out activities in various educational directions:

🔸 Additional classes for children in “catch-up” classes. More than 480 teachers across the region are already working to help children better assimilate the curriculum, catch up on missed educational material, and more.

🔸 Additional educational and developmental activities for preschool children. 173 senior group educators and 43 preschool education institution methodologists have started training to work with children who lag behind the curriculum.

🔸 Classes for children learning in a distance or blended format in schools by mobile educational teams. These are outreach meetings to communities where team mentors teach students about mine safety, help restore/catch up on knowledge of academic subjects, and include a psychological component such as “Emotional Theater,” career guidance workshops, discussions on anti-bullying, and more.

The work continues! More to come.
