Schedule of Mobile Medical Teams in Zhytomyr Region for June 2024

Mobile medical teams continue to operate in Zhytomyr Region within the framework of the project “Restoring Access to Medical Services in the Communities of Zhytomyr Region.”

Each week, mobile medical teams (MMTs) consisting of a family doctor, nurse, psychologist, and social worker visit the settlements of Olevska, Slovechanska, and Narodytska communities. Sometimes, a cardiologist, gynecologist, or neurologist joins the MMTs. In June, 13 villages in these communities are scheduled to be visited.

The project is implemented by the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” in three communities of the region with the support of the USAID project – US Agency for International Development, in collaboration with Pact’s “Innovations to Overcome the HIV Epidemic.”

“From January to May, mobile medical teams in Zhytomyr Region have already made over 60 visits to the settlements of Olevska, Narodytska, and Slovechanska communities. People are now aware of the opportunities to check their health and always look forward to the arrival of the MMT in their village. In June, 13 visits by the mobile medical teams are planned, with some visits also involving a cardiologist and gynecologist,” says Anastasia Batyrieva, coordinator of the mobile medical teams of the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation.”

Family doctor Olena Mysiuk, who travels with the Narodytska MMT, emphasizes that almost all patients are referred to specialists, most often to a cardiologist or endocrinologist. Most people are diagnosed with cardiovascular diseases and elevated blood sugar levels.

Mobile medical teams provide an opportunity for people in villages to check their health, undergo basic examinations, and receive referrals to specialists if necessary. Access to psychological services is also crucial, as two years of war have affected everyone, causing fear, anxiety, and exhaustion. Almost all who come for a check-up with the mobile medical team also seek consultation with a psychologist. From January to May, 1,634 people have already used the services of the MMTs.
