Mobile Medical Teams’ Schedule in Zhytomyr Region for June 2024
Mobile medical teams continue to operate in Zhytomyr Region as part of the project “Restoring Access to Medical Services in the Communities of Zhytomyr Region.”
Each week, mobile medical teams (MMTs), consisting of a family doctor, nurse, psychologist, and social worker, visit the settlements of Olevska, Slovechanska, and Narodytska communities. Sometimes, a cardiologist, gynecologist, or neurologist also joins the MMTs. In June, 13 village visits in these communities are planned.
The project is implemented by the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” in three communities of the region with the support of the USAID – US Agency for International Development, in collaboration with Pact’s “Innovations to Overcome the HIV Epidemic.”
“From January to May, mobile medical teams in Zhytomyr Region have already made over 60 visits to the settlements of Olevska, Narodytska, and Slovechanska communities. People are now aware of the opportunity to check their health and always look forward to the MMTs’ visits to their villages. In June, 13 mobile medical team visits are planned, with some visits including a cardiologist and gynecologist,” says Anastasia Batyreva, coordinator of the mobile medical teams of the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation.”

Family doctor Olena Mysyuk, who travels with the Narodytska MMT, emphasizes that nearly all patients receive referrals to specialists. Most often, these referrals are to a cardiologist or endocrinologist. The majority of people are found to have cardiovascular diseases and elevated blood sugar levels.
Mobile medical teams provide the opportunity for people in villages to check their health, undergo basic examinations, and receive referrals to specialists if needed. Access to psychological services is also important. The two years of war have affected everyone, with fear, anxiety, and exhaustion being common feelings. Nearly everyone who comes for an examination by the mobile medical team also seeks a consultation with a psychologist. From January to May, 1,634 people have already used the services of MMTs.
