Schedule of Mobile Medical Teams in Zhytomyr Region for June 2024

Mobile Medical Teams Continue Their Work in Zhytomyr Region

As part of the project “Restoring Access to Medical Services in the Communities of Zhytomyr Region,” mobile medical teams (MMTs) continue to visit various localities in the region.

Weekly, MMTs consisting of a family doctor, nurse, psychologist, and social worker visit the villages of the Olevsk, Slovechansk, and Narodychi communities. Occasionally, a cardiologist, gynecologist, or neurologist joins the team. In June, 13 villages in these communities are scheduled to be visited.

This project is implemented by the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” in three communities of the region with the support of the USAID project, in collaboration with Pact’s “Innovations to Overcome the HIV Epidemic.”

“From January to May, mobile medical teams in Zhytomyr Region have already made over 60 visits to the villages of the Olevsk, Narodychi, and Slovechansk communities. People are now aware of the opportunities to check their health and always look forward to the arrival of MMTs in their village. In June, 13 MMT visits are planned, with some visits including a cardiologist and a gynecologist,” says Anastasia Batireva, coordinator of the mobile medical teams of the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation.”

In June, the MMTs will operate according to the following schedule:

Family doctor Olena Mysiuk, who travels with the Narodychi MMT, emphasizes that almost all patients receive referrals to specialists, most frequently to a cardiologist or endocrinologist. Most people are found to have cardiovascular diseases or elevated blood sugar levels.

Mobile medical teams provide residents of villages the opportunity to check their health, undergo basic examinations, and receive referrals to specialists if necessary. Access to psychological services is also crucial, as two years of war have affected everyone, causing fear, anxiety, and exhaustion. Nearly everyone who visits the MMTs for an examination also seeks a consultation with a psychologist. From January to May, 1,634 people have already used the services of the MMTs.
