On August 19-20, administrators of training and resource centers from the Lviv, Kyiv, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Odesa, Chernihiv regions, and the city of Kyiv underwent training at the Zhytomyr Medical Institute.
Purpose of the Training
Specialists were trained in the specifics of working in these centers, as they will be the ones conducting educational activities for medical professionals on implementing the universal-progressive model of home visits to families with children and conducting the “School of Responsible Parenting.”
Event Organizer
The training was organized by the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” as part of the support for the joint program of UNICEF and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, “Care from Birth at Home.”
Main Training Topics
- Implementation of the universal-progressive model of home visits to families with children from birth to three years in Ukraine.
- A comprehensive approach to early childhood rehabilitation: identification, support, and communication.

Expansion of the Training and Resource Center Network
“At the training, we are preparing administrators to work in training and resource centers. Just a year ago, we opened the first such center in Ukraine in Zhytomyr to train nurse practitioners who conduct home visits to families with children. Now the program has expanded to other regions. And this year, 12 more training and resource centers will begin operation in the Lviv, Kyiv, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Odesa, Chernihiv regions, and the city of Kyiv,” said Margarita Sirančuk, Project and Program Manager at the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation.”

Functions of Training and Resource Center Administrators
The administrators of these centers will work with medical professionals, promoting the implementation of the universal-progressive model of home visits to families with children from birth to three years. They will also conduct “Schools of Responsible Parenting” for families with young children, for those planning to become parents, or those expecting a baby. The main goal is for parents to acquire modern knowledge and skills in protecting and strengthening the health of children at an early age, ensuring children grow up in a safe and caring environment.
Additional Information
Training and Resource Centers (TRCs) for the implementation of the universal-progressive model of home visits to families with children are being prepared for opening in the Lviv, Kyiv, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Odesa, and Chernihiv regions, as well as in Kyiv. Work is currently underway to equip these centers with the necessary furniture and technology. Each center will have two conceptually different parts: the first, a training area for educating medical professionals and providing lectures for parents; and the second, a simulation area for practicing practical skills with parents on caring for newborns at home.
The TRCs are being established as part of the project “Implementation of the Universal Progressive Home Visiting Model and Integrated Child-Centered Medical Services at the Local Level in Specific Regions of Ukraine,” implemented by the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” with the support of UNICEF and financial support from the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development through the German Development Bank (KFW).
