🤝 Partnership and Preparation:
Our project aims to support family-based alternative care for children affected by armed conflict. We have taken on the mission of preparing citizens to make the important decision to welcome children into their families.
🤔 Informed Decision-Making: Before welcoming children into the family, each candidate undergoes systematic preparation, understanding the consequences and responsibility. Our approach is for every family member to be ready for the new stage in life.
📚 Quality Preparation: Candidate training includes certified trainers and a substantive approach to learning. We form groups based on programs, involve trainers, and ensure safety during training sessions.
The Zhytomyr Regional Center for Social Services, with the support of UNICEF Ukraine and In Touch Ukraine Foundation, continues to develop and improve the system of child patronage and education as part of the training for candidates.
Main Training Topics:
One of the key training topics is the legal foundations for ensuring children’s rights and supporting families with children. The center’s trainers carefully examined these issues, contributing to the understanding not only of the legal aspect but also the importance of creating a supportive environment for the development and well-being of children.
Training Results:
One of the key results of these sessions is an increased awareness among participants regarding the legal aspects of family placement, adoption, and foster care. The knowledge gained during training has become an essential tool for supporting and protecting children’s rights.

Alternative Forms of Upbringing:
Special attention was given to alternative forms of family upbringing. For children deprived of parental care, it is crucial to create conditions for their full and harmonious personality development.
Promoting Safety and Happy Childhood:
The diligent work of trainers and support specialists allows for the consideration of alternative forms of family upbringing, such as adoption, guardianship, fostering, foster families, family-type children’s homes, and patronage families, as an essential tool in creating a safe and happy childhood.
Together for a Better Future:
This learning process is just one of the steps in supporting children and families. The Zhytomyr Regional Center for Social Services remains committed to working in the best interests of children, providing access to high-quality forms of upbringing, and helping children find their families and safety.
🌟 Support and Guidance:
The project provides support and guidance for family formation candidates. As a result of the training, we have already supported 2 groups of foster parent candidates, parent-educators, guardians/caregivers, 7 educational groups of citizens wishing to adopt a child, and 2 groups of patronage educator candidates.
👨👩👧👦 Towards Family Warmth Together:
7 families have been prepared for foster care, 40 families for adopting a child, and 68 families expressing a desire to adopt a child. We believe that each family can become a source of warmth and happy moments for a child. 🏡❤️
👥 Training by Experienced Professionals:
Our trainers are a team of highly qualified specialists from the Zhytomyr Regional Center for Social Services and certified trainers specialized in preparing candidates for patronage educators and their voluntary assistants. They share their experience and profound knowledge.
🤝 Partnership for Maximum Benefit:
We have joined forces with psychologists from regional and city social service centers to provide comprehensive support. The psychological aspect is crucial in the preparation and work with candidates.
🏙️ Involving Representatives from Different Communities:
Our participants are representatives of urban, town, and rural communities in the Zhytomyr region. We consider the specifics of each region and provide practical knowledge for real challenges.
🎓 Education for Growth and Development:
Our approach is not just about imparting information but also emphasizing the development of participants. We believe that each candidate, having gained knowledge, will be able to effectively apply them in their work.
🌐 Joint Mission for a Better Future:
Our partnership and training are a joint mission to strengthen the human potential and provide each family with the opportunity to be a support for children in need of special protection and warmth. Our goal is to support family-based alternative care for children, whether it’s a foster family, parent-educators, guardians, caregivers, adopters, or patronage educators – we provide them with the necessary knowledge and resources.
