Mobile Medical Team Operations
In the Zhytomyr region, mobile medical teams continue their work as part of the project “Restoring Access to Medical Services in Zhytomyr Region Communities”. Every week, mobile medical teams (MMK) visit the settlements of the Olevsk, Slovechansk, and Narodychi communities. These teams include a family doctor, a nurse, a psychologist, and a social worker. Sometimes a cardiologist, gynecologist, or endocrinologist joins the MMK. In August, 13 villages in these communities are scheduled for visits.
Project Implementation
The project is being implemented by the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” in three communities of the region with the support of the USAID – US Agency for International Development, in partnership with Pact’s “Innovations to Address the HIV Epidemic”.
.Results from January to July
“From January to July, the mobile medical teams in Zhytomyr region have already made nearly 90 visits to the settlements of the Olevsk, Narodychi, and Slovechansk communities. More than 2300 people have received consultations. Local residents are aware of the mobile medical teams’ visits and eagerly await them, as it is an opportunity to check their health and talk to a psychologist. This work continues in August, with 13 visits planned,” said Anastasia Batyrieva, coordinator of the mobile medical teams of the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation”.

Medical Screenings and Consultations
During their visits, the mobile medical teams (MMK) conduct four types of medical screenings (examinations) for diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and hearing loss. During the visits, family doctors from the MMK provide consultations on healthy lifestyles, measure blood pressure and blood sugar levels, cholesterol, and perform ECG and ultrasound examinations.
Psychological Support
A psychologist also interacts with the people. According to the MMK psychologists, many people now experience anxiety, fear, and despair. The war affects every Ukrainian. Therefore, taking care of one’s mental health is equally important.
