New Laptops for Home Visiting Nurses in Zhytomyr Region

On May 7, the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” handed over 32 laptops from UNICEF to home visiting nurses in the Zhytomyr region. This event was timed to coincide with International Nurses Day and aimed at improving the work of nurses operating under the Universal Progressive Model (UPM) of home visits.

Support for Nurses

In the Zhytomyr region, 15 healthcare institutions implement the UPM and conduct home visits to families with young children. These institutions have been part of a joint program by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and UNICEF since 2022, aimed at providing better home care and family support by qualified nurses – “Care from Birth at Home.”

To support home visiting nurses, laptops were distributed to the following institutions:

  • KNP “Raigorodok TsPMSD”
  • KNP “TsPMSD” of Chernyakhiv Settlement Council
  • KNP “TsPMSD” of Korostyshiv City Council
  • KNP “AZPSM” of Gorodnytsia Settlement Council
  • KNP “TsPMD” of Olevsk City Council
  • KNP “TsPMSD” of Yemilchyne Settlement Council
  • KNP “TsPMSD” of Brusyliv Settlement Council
  • KNP “TsPMSD” of Zviahel City Council
  • KP “TsPMSD” of Zhytomyr City Council
  • KNP “Ovruch TsPMSD”
  • KNP “AZPSM” of Stanyshivka Village Council
  • KNP “TsPMSD” of Radomyshl City Council

Support for the Training and Resource Center

Additionally, 10 laptops were handed over to the Zhytomyr Medical Institute to further enhance the training and resource center for implementing the Universal Progressive Model of home visits.

Future Plans

The “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” continues to work on developing the Universal Progressive Model not only in the Zhytomyr region but also in other regions of Ukraine. The organization is preparing to create 12 training and resource centers across the country as part of the project “Implementation of the Universal Progressive Home Visiting Model and Child-Oriented Integrated Medical Services at the Local Level in Certain Regions of Ukraine,” supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Conclusion

The transfer of laptops from UNICEF is an important step in supporting home visiting nurses in the Zhytomyr region. The new equipment will enhance their work and help provide high-quality medical care to families with young children. The “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” will continue to facilitate the implementation of effective medical models in various regions of Ukraine, thus improving the quality of medical services at the local level.
