Ukraine will stand! Ukraine will win!
Despite the very tense start to the week, we continued to work in the best interests of children.
On June 11, 2022, the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). This agreement launched the cooperation program across the entire region. Zhytomyr was the first region to sign such a strategic interaction plan.
The public organization In Touch Ukraine Foundation, implementing the cross-sectoral project UNICEF Ukraine in the Zhytomyr region, was established based on the volunteer headquarters “DIYA.Razom” to be able to respond to the needs of families in crisis situations.
Therefore, today, October 11 (after two postponements due to air raid alarms), together with partners from the Zhytomyr City Center for Social Services of the City Council and the Zhytomyr Regional Perinatal Center of the Zhytomyr Regional Council, we are OFFICIALLY opening the “Psychological Assistance Office” and signing a tripartite memorandum with partners at the Zhytomyr Perinatal Center of the Zhytomyr Regional Council!
Within the office’s operations, it is planned to provide informational services to pregnant women who are on pregnancy preservation, including internally displaced women; women in the “risk group”; women who gave birth prematurely; and other women in need.
The office specialists will provide informational services on:
🔷 Issuing birth certificates for newborns;
🔷 Processing child birth payments;
🔷 Opportunities to receive humanitarian aid.
It is planned to establish a system for referring patients to their actual place of residence to receive social services in their community of origin.
In September, we started the office’s operations in a test mode to understand the demand for services. In 40 hours of the office’s work, specialists provided services to 11 women with newborns and 1 family couple. During this time, 4 client referrals to specialists in their communities were made. It is gratifying that in such a short period, we see the first results and hope the office will become a reliable center of assistance and support for new mothers in the region.
