In the Zhytomyr region, a pilot program of financial aid has been launched for households with children who have lost one or both breadwinners due to hostilities, by the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) with the support of the executive partner of the fund in the region, the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation”
To apply for assistance, the head of the household submits the following documents:
- Passport, taxpayer identification number (ІПН), bank statement in IBAN format.
- Birth certificates for children under 18.
- Passport/ІПН for children over 18 residing in the same household.
- Passport/ІПН for other family members residing together.
- Document confirming the family status: loss of breadwinner due to military actions.
On May 3, the registration of documents began for families who lost one or both breadwinners due to the military actions of Russian forces to receive financial assistance from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Financial assistance for large families
Provided to families where:
- Three or more children under the age of 18, or
- Have one child with a disability under the age of 18 Amount of assistance: UAH 2200 (per family member, but not more than five people). Payment is made once for 3 months.

As of today, financial assistance can be provided to families where:
- There are three or more children under the age of 18, or
- They have one child with a disability under the age of 18,
- They reside in Ukraine,
- They have not received assistance from another international organization.
Registration of the application in the Zhytomyr region:
- Contact the social protection departments in your city and village councils, CNAPs, and other social protection authorities,
- Contact the coordination center UNICEF-Zhytomyr (NGO “In Touch Ukraine), which will help you submit an application remotely by phone/VIBER: (096) 93-77-116, (067) 490-32-79
After successful registration (provided with a QR code), the application goes through two verification stages (authenticity and data compliance).
Technical screening. This involves checking the presence of all mandatory data and ensuring there are no errors. Technical verification lasts up to two weeks.

As of today, financial assistance can be provided to families where:

To apply for financial assistance, the following supporting documents are required:
- Birth certificates of the children.
- Certificate (reference from the medical and social expert commission) confirming disability (if applicable).
- Identification codes of the parents.
- Passports of the parents.
- Bank account for payment (International Bank Account Number – IBAN, 29 characters). Where to obtain: online banking, ATM – on the receipt, or consult a specialist at the bank.
