Workshop: Effective Administration in Psychological Support Spaces

Workshop: Developing Effective Administration Skills in Psychological Support Spaces

On June 24, 2024, an important event was held in the Zhytomyr region for administrators of psychological support spaces in the Slovechno, Narodychi, and Olevsk communities. As part of the “Psychological Support Spaces in Zhytomyr Region Communities” project, organized by the NGO “In Touch Ukraine Foundation,” a workshop on “Developing Effective Administration Skills in Psychological Support Spaces” was conducted.

Purpose of the Event

The primary goal of the workshop was to develop participants’ understanding and acceptance of the functions and responsibilities of an administrator in the process of organizing appointments for online consultations, emphasizing the importance of effective interaction with visitors, and practicing operational algorithms. This allowed the administrators of the spaces to enhance their qualifications and skills in interacting with visitors.

Professional Support

The workshop was conducted by experienced trainer Halyna Perkolaba, who introduced the participants to the main aspects of administering psychological spaces. She emphasized the importance of a professional approach to each visitor and shared effective methods for organizing work.

A particularly interesting segment was the presentation by Iryna Hladka, the regional coordinator of the national mental health program “How Are You?”. She discussed modern psychological methods and engaged participants in discussions and trials of combined psychological balancing techniques. Administrators and members of the NGO actively participated in discussions and shared their experiences.

Discussion of Real Cases

The psychological support spaces are already operating in test mode, which allowed the workshop participants to discuss real cases and atypical situations in the work of administrators. This provided valuable experience for each attendee, as they received advice on specific problematic situations and found the most effective solutions.

Participant Feedback

Zoya, an administrator from the Narodychi community, shared her impressions: “This workshop opened my eyes to many important aspects of an administrator’s work. I realized how important it is to be not only an organizer but also a support for visitors. But the main rule is: do no harm!”

Another participant, Tetiana from the Slovechno community, noted: “The discussion of real cases was especially useful. We could exchange experiences and receive valuable advice on handling atypical situations.”
