How Mobile Medical Teams Operate in Zhytomyr Region. April 2024 Schedule
In Zhytomyr region, mobile medical teams (MMTs) work to restore access to medical services in rural communities. These teams visit villages in Narodychi, Olevsk, and Slovechno communities three times a week, providing free medical, psychological, and social consultations to local residents.
Regular Visits
Mobile medical teams consist of a family doctor, a nurse, a psychologist, and a social worker. Every Tuesday, the team visits villages in Narodychi community. During a single visit, they serve over 20 people, conducting primary examinations, health consultations, and screenings, including for diabetes.
“Every Tuesday, our mobile medical team visits the villages of the Narodychi community. During one visit, we serve over 20 people. We conduct primary examinations, provide health consultations based on complaints and requests, and perform screenings. For example, we often detect elevated blood glucose levels for the first time. This means people didn’t know they were at risk,” says family doctor Olena Mysiuk.
Support and Consultations
In case of a positive screening, the patient is referred to specialists for further consultations and additional examinations. According to three months of MMT practice in the Zhytomyr region, people most often need consultations and follow-ups with an endocrinologist and a cardiologist.
Every time the MMTs go out, they receive gratitude from local residents. Many cannot visit a doctor on their own but need primary medical care and specialist consultations. This is emphasized by Nadiya Yevheniyivna from the village of Chaban in the Slovechno community.

In April, the MMTs have planned 13 visits to the villages of these communities, consisting of a family doctor, a nurse, a psychologist, and a social worker.
