A Year of Psychological Assistance at Zhytomyr Regional Perinatal Center

🤱 For a year now, the Psychological Assistance Office has been functioning at the Zhytomyr Regional Perinatal Center. This office was established as part of the cross-sectoral project by In Touch Ukraine Foundation with the support of UNICEF Ukraine.

🟦 The office provides informational services to pregnant women who are under pregnancy preservation care, including internally displaced women; new mothers from the “risk group”; women who have given birth prematurely, and others in need.

💛 During this time, nearly 600 women from the aforementioned categories have been supported through psychosocial work, receiving 869 psychological consultations and over 500 social services.

Services Provided by the Psychological Assistance Office

The Psychological Assistance Office is staffed by a social work specialist and a psychologist who provide the following services:

🔹 Counseling

🔹 Referral, including the provision of humanitarian support (when possible).

Common Issues Addressed

Women often seek help from the psychologist for the following issues:

🔹 Fear of childbirth

🔹 Fear of premature birth

🔹 Fear of losing a child

🔹 Postpartum depression

🔹 Fear of losing a premature baby

🔹 Underage pregnant women coming to terms with motherhood

🔹 Fear of losing a husband who is in a combat zone

🔹 Fear of living through the war and concerns about the future of the unborn child.
