Emotional burnout is an adverse reaction to work-related stress, characterized by persistent negative emotions and emotional exhaustion.
Emotional burnout is a relevant topic today and one of the least studied in human psychology. It is important to learn to recognize the signs of emotional burnout in time to prevent further mental health issues.
What are the Symptoms?
🔺 Severe fatigue even in the morning, inability to recover
🔺 Increasing negative emotions, unexplained anger outbursts
🔺 Emotional lability (sudden mood swings)
🔺 Emergence of negative attitudes towards work (I can’t handle it, I won’t succeed, I’m not doing well enough, etc.)
🔺 Indifference towards professional duties
🔺 Negative attitudes towards colleagues or clients
🔺 Psychophysical symptoms (headaches, rapid heartbeat, digestive issues)
As a result, one might experience depersonalization (a feeling of detachment from oneself) and reduction of professional achievements (negative self-perception in the professional sphere).
What Contributes to Emotional Burnout?
😑 Prolonged work at a strenuous pace
🤨 High workloads, especially emotional
😒 Difficult work environment and challenging people
🤐 Lack of proper rewards for work
😶 Value crisis
If you notice symptoms of emotional burnout in yourself, I recommend stopping to review your work and rest routine, taking care of yourself, and planning your day, week, or month differently, with attention to your health. Do not hesitate to seek help from professionals – doctors and psychologists are familiar with these conditions in their practice and can provide assistance.
Remember, you are the most important person in your life!
